How To Motivate Yourself To Study When You’re Too Busy With Work

I am a university student. Besides my studies, I work part-time and tutor. Balancing studies and work was difficult for me, and it wasn’t easy to find time for studies amidst a busy schedule. Here are some steps on how I motivated myself to study despite my busy work schedule.

1. Acknowledging the Challenge:

Balancing responsibilities towards work and studies was challenging. At times, I lost my spirit and felt like nothing was possible. Admitting the difficulty was my first step. I realized that I had to bring balance without fear, and it would take time to achieve this.

2. Setting Goals:

I set my goals and divided them into smaller tasks. For example, I would study biology for an hour in the morning, take online tests once a week, and take notes at fixed times. These small goals reduced my stress and helped me achieve bigger goals.

3. Time Management:

Time management was crucial for me. I allocated separate times for work and study. I made progress by sitting at the reading table on time and practicing subjects at specific times. This also included breaks, relaxation, and sleep, which are essential for well-being.

4. Finding the Right Environment:

I realized that reading requires a pleasant environment. Noisy places or crowded areas like TV rooms and university campuses were not conducive to studying. I chose to study in my reading room and the library, where I could study comfortably. A quiet environment plays a significant role in concentration.

5. Embracing Flexibility:

There were times when there was a lot of work pressure, disrupting my study schedule. I mentally prepared myself to face this situation and was ready to make up for lost time whenever possible. Such an attitude reduced stress and kept me from feeling defeated when things didn’t go according to plan.

6. Mentor Support:

Finding someone whose path and values resonate with mine was crucial. A proper mentor inspired and encouraged me. Their belief in my abilities boosted my confidence, reminding me that my goals are achievable. They also helped me with scheduling both work and study.

7. Celebrating Small Wins:

This is the best part of my story. I celebrate small achievements like completing a chapter or getting good marks in an exam. I would reward myself with treats or small gifts. These small tasks kept me going and motivated. No matter how small, they boosted my morale and made the journey worthwhile.

8. Reflecting and Adjusting:

Reflecting on my progress was very important. Without measuring progress, one cannot understand what is improving or what is going wrong. I evaluated my progress and tried to fix what was wrong. This continuous improvement approach helped me refine and rapidly improve my methods.

By adopting the right strategies, I managed to maintain a balance between work and studies. It was not easy for me, but I simplified it. If you ever face a challenge like this, with hard work and the right approach, you can find your way to success.
